Princess Mihrimah Sultan was born in March 1522 year in the city of Constantinople by Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent and his wife Hjurrem. In translation from Turkish her name means "the sun and the moon". As mentioned in some historical sources, Mihrimah was the favourite of his father and often traveled with him and even several times accompanied him in the campaigns. In the age of seventeen, she was married off for the Grand Vizier of the Ottoman Empire Rustem Pasha (which replaced the earlier you were murdering Ibrahim Pasha). Until the end of the life of her husband she didn't leave his father and spent a lot of time with him in campaigns and travel. Also Mihrimah actively interested in art.
When the throne was occupied by her brother Salim she became the de facto Walid Sultan and had a great power.
Mihrimah was a strong person, which could keep the whole harem in their hands. Apparently could not be otherwise, because we have only to remember what the government has achieved her mother Hjurrem.During the life of the Princess was built several mosques in the original architectural concept.
